It was a beautiful day to lay our loved one's ashes at sea. Carol was professional, as well as helpful in discussing the process to insure paper work was complete. Captain Don did a wonderful job in arranging the basket and rose pedals, in addition to seamlessly releasing the ashes.
Now that our journey for our Mom is complete, I want to let everyone know how much we appreciated what Carole at Sail Jada and Captain Don at Gone Sailing did to make it special for us. Carole went out of her way many times to help us obtain the permit, and to arrange Captain Don and his gorgeous sailboat. Captain Don was wonderful, so caring and kind. He just fit in with all of the family, so diplomatic and thoughtful. The boat and the service was first class and our Mother's last wishes were honored. You will not be disappointed, if this is how you want to take care of your loved ones, call Carole at Sail Jada for a unique and heartfelt experience.
Long before my beloved wife of 60 years passed, we agreed that burial at sea was to be our last resting place. And what better place than off San Diego, our home for 50 years. We met Carole from the Jada and enjoyed several pleasure sails together aboard Jada, including my 80th birthday. These experiences convinced me to pick Jada to carry her ashed to sea, as I knew Carole would take care of all the details. The sail was dignified, solemn, respectful, and fitting for her, me and attending family & friends. I have instructed my "Will" to engage Jada as a means to join her at 32o39'N -117o13'W.
I want to thank you for facilitating our charter of the Jada. Our ash scattering was a beautiful experience for us all. Between that and our Service the next day, I think we al feel comfort and closure.
Yours is a great option for families to bury their members who love the ocean.
Last weekend we cast the ashes of our good friend, Bryan M., into the sea while aboard the sailing yacht Jada. I must say that the entire experience was first rate, thanks to the owner Carole, skipper and crew of Jada. We motor-sailed out to the Point and found the legal off shore area where it is permissible to scatter the ashes of the deceased. Carole had secured for us the necessary permits ahead of time. The crew provided a very classy looking urn to use for the disbursement. We said a few prayers and tossed the ashes into the sea along with wreaths and rose petals that we had brought along. It was at once fitting, dignified and meaningful for our guests (about 18 people). The captain of the boat then slowly circled the spot where the ashes and wreaths were laying. We hadn’t counted on this but it was a very nice touch. Upon returning to the bay under sail, we caught a freshening breeze and had a lively sail. We used the time to share anecdotes and remembrances about our dear friend. The crew was great. Mindful. Respectful and eager to please. We were served several appetizers and beverages and it all came off without a hitch. Towards the end of the cruise we were presented with souvenir JADA post cards that had an inscription on the back of the precise longitude and latitude of the scattering of ashes. Another unexpected touch. I would strongly recommend chartering JADA for such an event. Kudos to all the made our special day truly special.
Recently we scattered the ashes of our good friend, Bryan M. aboard the Jada. I highly recommend using this company for scattering your loved one's ashes at sea. The crew was fantastic!! They offered us any assistance we needed, were very respectful, served our appetizers and drinks throughout the sail and couldn't have been nicer. They also offered a few bits of interesting information about the sights we were observing when appropriate. They put up the sails on our return trip and we had a lovely sail back to the dock. Also I might add the yacht is absolutely gorgeous!!
They made the event a very special day for all of us..... it is a day I will always remember.
My mother's last wish was to be buried at sea. She had taught me to sail when I was very young, and she shared with me her love of the oceans. She couldn't stand being on a motorboat or a cruise ship. For her, a sailing vessel was the only way to go. She had spent her life traveling the world, and made new friends everywhere she went. Her final voyage aboard JADA, accompanied by family and friends, could not have been more perfect. As the yacht slipped silently through the waves, we disbursed her ashes a little at a time, each guest allowing some of her remains to mix into the gentle swell off the San Diego coast. This short trip will forever be remembered by all who attended. Thank you to the crew of JADA for making it a memorable experience.
